April vacation – part 1

The reason for the lack of blogging is that we’re on vacation in California. One of the perks of having been an exchange student is that I have a bonus mum to visit, and this year we’re lucky enough to enjoy Southern California in spring instead of summer. The temperature is a lot more pleasant, and the landscape a lot greener.

Trip to Mission Santa Barbara - with motorbikes waiting to be blessed.... In my book that's a bit loony...

The blessing of the bikes, and a young parking attendant bored out of his skull.

Blending in

Santa Barbara Mission - Picnic. Bonus parents and excellent hosts.

Southern California in spring, a lot greener than we're used to from the summers.

At Hearst Castle. Splendid, and a bit mental...

The indoor pool at Hearst Castle. The only part of the castle I truly covet.

Elephant seal basking on the beach north of Hearst Castle.

Solvang - "Danish" town in California

Kristin - wading in the Pacific Ocean for the first time. And this on her third visit to California, about time.

Killer Whales at Seaworld in San Diego

We've seen koalas and other animals at The San Diego Zoo

Weve seen old buildings and had a good dinner in Old San Diego

We've waded more in the Pacific Ocean at Coronado Island in San Diego

Weve seen giraffes and lots of other animals at San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park

They had nice butterflies too. They are out just for a month every spring, so we timed it well.
